Today is monumental day; it proves that all of my hard work and dedication is not in vain. It also proves that if I put my mind to it, I can accomplish anything. Today I ran 5k (3.1 miles) and I feel unstoppable! It all started when I completed week 7 day of C25k yesterday and it felt relative easy. It felt so easy that I decided to go for a run today. This wasn’t a C25K run, it was a “let’s see how I’m doing run.” So I left my apartment, turned on my Nike Running App and started to run. I didn’t have a goal in mind as far as distance or time; I just told myself that I will stop running when I stop running. So the first mile goes by and a dog scares the crap out of me. I was running down a residential street and it started to bark and after chase me. So I jumped into the bed of someone’s truck and that’s when I notice the dog stopped at the edge of its yard and continued to bark. I said to myself this dog is behind an invisible fence. So I jumped from the bed of the truck and I thought to myself, “I’m done running for today.” Then I said, “Martinus just keep running,” so that’s what I did. I got back into to my groove as I approach mile two and I say to myself, “I’m not even tired, maybe a little winded but I can keep going,” so I kept chugging along. I start to lap my apartment complex around mile 2.5 and I thought to myself, “yup keep running you’re doing good Martinus,” and that’s when it hit me! I’m going to run 5K today. A smirk came upon my face and said to myself, “yea buddy lets finish strong.” So I started to run faster, knowing every step that I take is one step closer to 5K. I can feel my heart beat faster and the feeling of determination increases throughout my body as I give it all that I got. Then I hear “you have reached 5K,” from my Nike Running app and the feeling of joy instantly came upon me. I did it! I ran 5K without finishing C25K. As I turn around to walk home I knew this was the beginning of something great. I know I have a lot of miles a head but it feels amazing to hit a milestone like this.
