Running UCONN/ Nike Flyknit Review

Since today was such a beautiful day I decide to go for run on UCONN’s Campus. School started on Monday and the gym has been crowded, both tracks are always filled with people, and there is never a single treadmill available; so running around campus seems like a logical solution. I started my journey even though I didn’t know which way to go, so I let the music take over and guide me through campus.

UCONN is very hilly campus but those hills feel like mountains when running. I see a lot of other people running on campus compare to running at home. I saw the track team, women’s swim team, and lacrosse team running on campus. I felt like I was always in track team’s way because they took up the whole sidewalk running behind me chanting, “UCONN Huskies, Huskies UCONN, UCONN Huskies Roof!” I crossed the street and slowed down while I let them chant and run by. My second favorite hobby is people watching so I stop and laugh when the track team encountered the women’s swim team and they had a shouting match of who can chant the loudest. The swim team won if anybody wanted to know.

Anyways running on campus is very different but it’s a good thing because UCONN is big enough that I can run different routes and not get bored by seeing the same scenery. While I’m at it maybe I can find me a running partner. I’ve been trying to get my homie Santini to get out and run with me but he has a million and one excuses why he can’t. From he got bad knees to he swims and the breathing is different compare to running. Lol how is breathing different from breathing? I don’t how he comes up with these creative excuses but he always has a new one, when I ask him to come out and run. It’s kind of the running joke between us.

I also got a package from my favorite shoe company today.

Let’s see what’s in the box.

I’m very excited about these shoes because they are the hottest thing in the running community. They are pretty much sold out everywhere.

All the sneaker heads know about the new shoe smell!

My initial thought on these shoes are man they are light. When the FedEx guy gave me the box I asked him “is there anything in box? Because it feels pretty light!”

When I think of something being knitted I think of stretchy flimsy material but that’s not the case with these shoes they are far from flimsy; the knitting feels very durable and the only thing that has a little stretch is the tongue.

I got a size 14 in these shoes which are the same size of my Nike Vomero 7’s. I was skeptical about the sizing, because I seen a review on YouTube that said, he had to go a whole size down which means technically I would get this shoe in a 12.5, but I’m glad to stuck with my gut and I got the 14’s because the they fit like a glove. Truthfully they fit better that my Vomero 7’s; putting them on the midsole hugs your feet like a sock and they are super light…I can’t stress it enough how light they are. The only caveat I have about this shoe is the heel cup doesn’t lock your foot completely down. It feels like if I walk a certain way my foot will slip out the shoe…even though it doesn’t. It would be interesting to see if Nike could come up with some type of dynamic fit for the heel cup.. Something like fly wire but for your heel. All in all it’s a great shoe

I want to give special thank @nikesupport for tracking down these shoe in my size. I will give a follow-up review once I’ve ran in them for a week or so..

Until next time I’m 300 Pounds and Running!
